The Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI-AGC) is collaborating with the
Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) to conduct a
4-day seminar on
Project Management Tools & Techniques with Building Information Modeling (BIM) Integration. The seminar is scheduled from
April 11-14, 2010, at the Intercontinental Hotel, Doha, Qatar.
PMP participants should be able to claim
30 PDUs (Professional Development Units)
for this course in support of their PMP continuing certification requirement.
About this Course:
Tools and methods to manage projects have not been changed since the invention of CPM, bar-charts and network analysis. These are quite fragmented and it is often that the separation of execution from planning cause projects to overrun in cost and time. Also, there is a lack of information infrastructure to manage and inform project development processes.
Recently, new tools and processes has started to emerge and predominately focusing on the use and adaptation of BIM (Building Information Model). BIM is a new way of handling whole life cycle information and knowledge that can result in a better certainty and accuracy of project developments. The presentation will focus on the definition of BIM within the context of project management and how BIM can be developed and used throughout project life cycle. Also, 5D technologies will introduced and discussed as planning and control tools within the context of BIM technology. Real life case studies and advances in this area in the EU and USA will be demonstrated and discussed. A roadmap for BIM development and embedment strategy in companies will be also introduced.
Each participant will be provided the training materials for the workshop. Upon a successful completion of the program, each participant will receive a ‘Certificate of Completion’.
Instructor Profiles:
Prof. Nashwan Dawood has spent many years as an academic and a researcher within the field of project and construction management and the application of IT in the construction process. This has ranged across a number of research topics including sustainability, Information Technologies and Systems (4D,VR,Integrated databases), planning and management of off-site production, risk management, intelligent decision support systems, cost forecasting and control and business processes. This has resulted in over 180 published papers in refereed international journal and conferences, and research grants from British Council, Industry, Engineering Academy, EPSRC, DTI UK Department Trade and Industry, construction industry companies and Peter Berg Foundation, totaling about £2,500,000 in cash. Most of his research projects are multi-disciplinary in nature and complementary knowledge and expertise within his research centre, national and international research institutions and collaboration with the UK and EU construction industry has led to successful research bids and exciting research projects.
Seminar Fees are QAR5,000.00 and QAR5,500.00 for PMI or QSE members and non-members, respectively.
