A message from the Chair of the CIAC,
the Code Implementation Advisory
Committee.
Dear PMI Chapter President,
As you are aware, in early 2007, a new
version of PMI’s “Code of Ethics and
Professional Conduct” was launched.
Scope and content has been well received
by our Project Management community.
In parallel with the launch of the Code,
the CIAC (Code Implementation Advisory
Committee) has been formed. Its mission
is to facilitate the implementation and
communication across the PMI
organization of the revised PMI Code of
Ethics and Professional Conduct to
ensure implementation, stakeholder
communication, and the development of
principles and procedures for sustaining
the Code of Ethics and Professional
Conduct.
PMI has translated the Code in the 10
languages in which the
PMBOK® Guide is
equally translated. Those languages are Arabic,
Chinese,
French,
German, Italian,
Japanese,
Korean,
Portuguese,
Russian and
Spanish. You can access those
translations on the
Ethics page of the PMI website.
We have also understood that several
Chapters have translated the Code into
other languages. We think that this is a
good idea, because in doing so, it
brings the content of the Code closer to
its users. We are writing in order to
survey how many additional languages the
Code has been translated into beyond the
10 languages already translated by PMI.
The purpose of this message is twofold:
-
if you have made one or more local
translations, we would appreciate if
you could forward a copy of the
translation to
William G. Scarborough, Vice
President and General Counsel at
PMI
William.Scarborough@pmi.org
and to Chris Kindermans, a member of
the CIAC,
chris.kindermans@pmi-belgium.be
-
if your language is not one of the
ten languages into which the Code of
Ethics has already been translated,
please consider doing a translation,
as the Code should be as clearly
understood by as many people as
possible. We would like you to send
us a copy of the translation once it
is done to keep our research
current.
Many thanks for your kind cooperation.
Best regards,

Gabe de Puyjalon, MPAdm
