PM Activities in Western Region

 

Visit to the College of Business Administration, CBA Jeddah, Wed. 13 Jan 2010 - KSA- Western region

The Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter, KSA Western Region conducted a new "Roadshow" session to "College of Business Administration", CBA in Jeddah. Engr. Hazim M. Abdulwahid, Vice President - KSA, Western Region noted that the "Roadshow" is designed to promote the PMI-AGC among the project management community and to encourage cooperation with the different individuals and organizations committed to the project management profession. Engr. Abdulwahid recognized the initiative taken by CBA to support project management education in KSA harmonization of efforts in the adoption of ICT solutions for inclusive economic and social development.

Engr. M. Abdul Aal, PMP Director of Programs, Western Region provided a presentation on the PMI, its PMBOK, its processes, knowledge areas, why we need project management as lifestyle. He also encouraged CBA students to start membership making full use of the PMI Students Membership rates. And also to investigate means and tools to benefit from the PMI Educational Fund.



MASAR Project in Jeddah supports e-learning

PMI-AGC team in Jeddah has participated in MASR Project of the Andalus Education Institution forum. www.as.sch.sa has successfully accomplished a distinguished project for utilizing and applying technology for ever effective e-learning. It was obvious that the top management played a significant role to support such unique project.

Eng. Hazem Abdulwahid, Vice President Western Region was the guest speaker of the event and declared the role and importance of Project Management, why the need for successful project management is rapidly increasing, he also draws the attention to why change management is crucial as well.

MASAR’s Project Manager Mr. Yaser M. Mohamed, PMP has made full use of the PMBOK tools, techniques, processes, knowledge areas to manage his project. Visit to Madinah Municipality

Mr. Hazim Abdulwahid, Vice President/Western Region, PMI-Arabian Gulf Chapter - Saudi Arabia and Omar Al Tazi, Director of IT, Western Region, PMI-Arabian Gulf Chapter – Saudi Arabia visited to Madinah Municipality on Tuesday the 25th of January 2010.

During this visit Mr. Hazim gave a presentation to the mayor of Madinah Municipality in which he highlighted the PMI, PMI-AGC and their mission, vision, scope of plan, activities and advantages of PMP certification and eligibility criteria.

Madinah Municipality assured that they will support PMI in promoting their activities and provide volunteers for PMI activities in Madina. A memorandum of understanding between PMI and Madinah Municipality has been prepared.



Technical Presentation at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Jeddah on January 28, 2010 on the topic:

One of the perilously ignored factors in project success is building the project team efficiently and maintaining a robust working environment for them around the clock. Providing a healthy environment for the project team would surely contribute in easier and smooth project development from start to completion. As a measure to bridge this gap in project/task force team building, the speakers provided some light on JOHARI WINDOW concept, process, steps, and dynamics and enlighten its use as a team development tool and also demonstrate its use as a self development. The presentation also explored the strengths and limitations of the Johari window.

 

 

 

 

Speaker Profile:

Mr. Imad Babbili, vast experience in execution of complicated works in major constructions in the Middle East with Twenty-seven years experience in project management spanning from design to on-stream through the various phases of project lifecycle and covering various aspects of project management such as estimation, planning, cost control, quality control, value management, design management, construction management, start-up management, and troubleshooting.

As a certified CII best practice facilitator for Constructability, Planning For Start-Up, Project Definition Rating Index, and Project Execution Planning Workshop he conduct best practice sessions for wide spectrum of projects in Saudi Arabia.


 

Courses

PMI course in Jeddah:

The Project Management Institute – Arabian Gulf Chapter, KSA Western Region conducted a successful PMP Preparatory Course for Zuhair Fayez Partnership for 18 engineers.

The course was held in main conference room of Zuhair Fayez Partnership head office and given by Engr. Mohammad Abdulal, for 10 days starting from 24-Oct-2009 to 23-Nov-2009 the first day was focusing on an introduction on Project Management and it's importance and the remaining 9 days were divided on the 9 knowledge areas each a day.

The audiences showed their appreciation and were enthusiastic to implement what they have learned and to study for the exam since they agreed together to take the exam maximum before Jul-2010. Some of audiences subscribed in PMI.org and became members.
