OPM3 Success Story

Successful Enhancement of Organizational Project Management Maturity Levels by TADAWUL

Saudi Stock Exchange – TADAWUL has finalized in August 2009 a year-long project to enhance their Organizational Project Management Maturity level using the world Best Practice Model - OPM3®.

In May of 2008, the PMO of TADAWUL retained the services of Intrinsic Management Services lead by two OPM3 certified consultants (Ms. Nada Abandah, Mr. Chris Miles) to conduct a rigorous assessment of the organization’s capabilities and competencies in project management. The assessment included all three domains of project management (Projects, Programs and Portfolios) and was aimed at identifying ways to take TADAWUL to the next level, and gauge the level of maturity in Project Management Domain.

“This project is vital for TADAWUL at this point for several reasons” said Mr. Turki Nemr, PMO Manager of TADAWUL. “We at the PMO are committed to provide the best value to the organization, and to ensure that we are utilizing the world international best practices within our methodologies, and linking our business results to the strategy”, he added. “This project not only helped TADAWUL to zoom in on the most related Best Practices that will enable us to serving the organization better, but also contributed to the improvement of the overall perceived value of the role project management plays within our organization”.

TADAWUL was able to make outstanding achievement in the project management domain, where they scored 92% according to the OPM3 ProductSuite score, amongst the highest scores world-wide.

The result of the assessment was presented in a comprehensive OPM3 assessment report, including all the needed enhancements to reach the desired levels of maturity, and later on, those approved recommendations were put in a 3-year roadmap to improvement to be undertaken by the PMO.

TADAWUL – facilitated by the efforts of the PMO’s team, and heavily supported by the senior management of the organization – was able to complete the first two stages of the roadmap on time, and raised their overall OPM3 score by almost the double.

These achievements that were possible by TADAWUL, is a proof of the capabilities and determination of the staff that believes in the value of project management, and how OPM3 can help in raising the levels of maturity in Project, Program and Portfolio Management.

At the project end, the project manager Muawia Basodan commented “This project was a big success because of the management support.”.
